Two separate commissioning phases across multiple towers
Overview
This Mumbai complex is one of the world’s largest diamond trading hubs and one of India’s most prestigious, high-security commercial complexes. Installing a 1.31 MW rooftop solar plant across its 10-storey structure was never going to be a standard rooftop job. It called for structural innovation, careful planning, and execution that worked around a security environment few commercial sites operate under.
The Challenge
The brief came with one non-negotiable condition: not a single penetration was permitted on the existing roof. That ruled out conventional mounting methods before design work even began.
Structural scale
The mounting system required close to 150 tonnes of structural steel fabrication across a 10-storey building.
Security protocols
As a high-security diamond trading hub, every movement of manpower, equipment and materials had to be planned, approved and coordinated in advance, with no room for unplanned site activity.
Phased delivery
The project was commissioned in two separate phases, which meant remobilising the team, revalidating structural designs, securing fresh approvals, and coordinating execution across multiple towers over an extended timeline.
01
Our Approach
With roof penetration off the table, our engineering team designed a reverse cantilever structural system that let the entire mounting structure sit securely on the building while leaving the existing roof completely intact. Getting there took detailed structural engineering, precision fabrication and careful load distribution, worked out in close coordination with the client’s facilities and security teams so execution stayed on schedule across both phases without disrupting daily trading operations.

The Result
Zero roof penetration across the full installation
Full compliance with client's stringent security protocols
Minimal disruption to daily business operations
Safe execution across both commissioning phases
Reliable long-term plant performance
Why It Matters
Tech Solar Solutions doesn’t just install solar power plants. On complex sites, whether commercial towers, manufacturing plants, warehouses, hospitals, hotels, logistics parks or airports, the work is engineering a solution where structural integrity, operational continuity and safety are non-negotiable. This project is a working example of what that looks like when none of the usual shortcuts are available.
